United Kingdom

A British dinner table isn’t complete without Christmas crackers. These festive cardboard tubes are pulled apart with a snap, revealing a small toy, a paper crown, and a corny joke!

Portugal

A Portuguese Christmas includes Bolo Rei, a crown-shaped Christmas cake filled with nuts and candied fruits, hides a small figurine or bean. Tradition says the finder is blessed with good luck—but also tasked with buying next year’s cake!

Azerbaijan

In Azerbaijan, the holiday season heats up—literally! Yel Çərşənbəsi, the Fire Festival, symbolises cleansing and renewal, with families jumping over bonfires for good luck. Pair it with a table piled high with sweets, nuts, and dried fruits, and you’ve got a celebration that’s truly lit!
